Can anyone recommend a place to stay near Mabie? Fairly cheap, bike friendly and for a small group. Near a pub obviously!

Cheers

Steve

Friend of mine stayed at the Mabie Hotel in the summer. Highly recommends it.

Think he got some kinda good DB&B rate.

And virtually on the trail.

Pretty sure there are some wigwams very close - we're staying in one about half an hour away in December.

Bunk barns at Marthrown are brilliant. The one we had has a woodburner on the verandah, along with log fired hot tub and sauna. Full english £4.50 and you can ride out the front door as its on the red line.

No shortage of B&B in Dumfries and you are only 20/30mins from Mabie or Ae and Dalbeattie

Have stayed at the Mabie House pods a couple of times and would recommend them - ideal for groups. They sleep 4 but much better with just 3. You can get a cooked breakfast from the hotel for £6 too.

The hotel can lock your bikes up overnight too if required.

Stayed at Mabie House Hotel 1st week in October, 3 nights B&B for £79 per person. Great breakfast, as were all the evening meals too. Most of the rooms are very large (apart from bedroom #4). Mabie trail starts about 100yrds around the corner. Hoping to go back next year 🙂

The Anchor at Kippford always used to be good, closer to Dalbeattie but not far from Mabie either. It's down on the edge of the Solway Firth, nice views and good food and beer.

+1, Food is ace since new owners took over. Can ride into the forest and there is a coastal path which you can ride(hike). This has had some work done on it recently and I need to do it clockwise from Rockcliffe to Sandyhills sometime. Usually done anti-clock from Portling but cleanup has created a couple of good looking descents 😆 and gates have been put in the dykes that had to be climbed
