Has anyone any experience with these? Are they a good bike? They are available with SRAM x5 or x9, is there a big difference between the two?
Many thanks
Have seen some of the Skookum builds on Facebook and they look amazing. They can build to whatever spec you require if you send the bits to them.
I have a 653 26" Sirius as my only bike and love it. If I was looking for a 29er (that also works with 650b) I'd deffo consider one.
I have a 20". I have it set up as a SS although have used it with gears. Nicely made and finished frame, good paint and excellent drop out system for SS use. Rides very well and is comfortable.
However IMO - slightly old school geometry, could be a degree or so slacker; also the stays could be shorter. I expected that in the short setting the tyre would almost be touching the seat tube (this is not the case the gap is about an inch). Nice long 'new school' top tube.
If I was buying a frame for SS then the dropouts are an absolute joy to use; work fine geared as well. If I was buying a frame and had no intention of ever using it SS then i would go for the Solaris; shorter stays and slightly slacker.
