Oooh looks just as nice in yellow. Like it.
Hi Legbacon , I see you are Travis Bickle in another life (MTBR).Just wanted to say thanks for all your thoughts & contributions on the Knolly thread.I found them very helpful. Regarding the Moxie.Where is every one setting the rear wheel axle.I am still building mine.Coming from a 2Souls QH I was thinking short as possible. Also does any one any thing about the USE dropper post.
Any updates from Moxie owners?
I have been mostly riding with 27.5+ Specialized 2.8 Butchers on 40mm rims. ย My other bike is a Knolly Endorphin that needs new bearings, and I have been in no rush to get that done. I'm not sure a hardtail can be better than this, lighter sure, but the handling and compliance are top notch. ย The BB is pretty low and I have 175 cranks from a previous build so I have to be careful not to pedal smash, but this is only an issue in a few spots. ย If I was buying new parts I would shorten the cranks. ย I've got both 29 and 27.5+ wheels and prefer the plus. ย Smoother, just as fast IME, and lower, which I like. ย I have been getting PRs ย and keeping up with my mates FS bikes. ย There are a few rougher descents where it beats my legs and is slower because sometimes there is no substitute for FS. ย That said I could not be more satisfied with my Moxie.
What wheel size is everyone running?
Anyone tried both for comparison?
I'm so close to hitting the buy button. Can't decide on wheels or forks though.
I prefer 27.5+ when the trails are chunky. ย 29 will raise the BB if that is important to you and may be faster on smooth sections.
I've never ridden a plus bike, and the idea of all that undamped tyre squirming about doesn't sound too appealing.
I probably need to get a test ride before I sign any cheques.
