Anyone had one fail? Is a welded rim really worth the extra?

Going tubeless? some people complain about leaks at the joint.

Had a mavic (317,319?) fail on me, it kept going out of true and I couldn't work out why, until I look down with some weigh in the bike and saw a small ~2mm gap in the join! It was working with duct tape tubeless right up to the end though!
