Is it possible to use pike lowers on recon uppers? Anyone tried a rockshox hybrid?

Hey,

Yup-tried it and running it at the mo!

Needs a bit of work-pike lowers are longer than recon ones, (about 15mm if I remember right?!) so when all bolted up you will lose some travel. Aslo pike rebound and spring shafts are longer too, so you either buy like ones or make a spacer-there was a thread on here somewhere about it for lyriks (that's what I did) but also you will need to make bigger bottom out bumpers-otherwise at full compression the lowers will hit the crown before the bottom out bumper. I made mine using rubber sheet approx 15mm thick.

I found a good thread on mtbr about a revelation/pike mash up which was the same principle.

edit - here are the links......

You won't lose travel if you make the spring/damper rods longer-my post didn't really make that clear?!

Been running them a year or so-no problems to report!
