I passed that feller, was so impressed I let him pass me so I could have another look. ๐
I did get caught looking at a lady's bottom though. ๐ณ
It was a very nice bottom indeed. Lycra is a wonderful invention....
I got photies of elfins mowhawk. ๐
Lovely to see those i knew, meet those i do now and shame i missed those i didn't meet or do not yet know.
I almost managed to avoid sticking a number on the bike, but did and thoroughly enjoyed the single lap with semi slicks.
Now trapped near brum for a few days ๐
And the sumo suited gentleman. Nothing kills your sense of dignity more than struggling on a climb, then watching a guy in a sumo suit sail passed as if you're not moving.
Nothing? Try getting overtaken by unicyclists. I'd say that comes close!
A teammate got overtaken by Scooby Doo too...
Sharki; you taken out any more sign boards with that trailer? ๐
Uncanny how Sharki turned up at exactly the right moment to witness and record my Public Humiliation.....
Disappointed u didnt do a lap with the trailer sharki
Mrs Toast; why din't you come and say hello?
I was standing right next to one of the Bullheart riders in the pit (waiting for Mr Toast to go out on his lap, I'd done mine earlier), didn't realise until you rolled in* and swapped the band. Didn't really want to interrupt! Plus I was momentarily dumbstruck by the sheer awesomeness of your pink and white jerseys.
* When I say 'rolled in' I clearly meant 'swept in like a particularly speedy and majestic eagle'

๐
BIt of a bald eagle now though...
I think the bird which has forenames of Great, Blue and Coal is more like it mind.
Shooduv said hello! Team Bullheart are lovers, not fighters.
Well, except for when were grinding the opposition into the dirt LIKE THE DOGS THEY ARE!!!!!
*It's over Elf, it's over; let go....*
Oooh....
Excellent event, though the sticky mud was depressingly energy draining, and climbs on grass are pretty dull.
Great to ride with Team Bullheart. Astonishingly, most of you are real people rather than just on-line personae, and turned out to be a remarkably nice bunch. Stars, the lot of you.
And I'm particularly pleased that I continued the stealth approach by missing out on group photo.
(Oh, and a few tickets for the Big Bike Bash are still available, with 50% off if you bring your own axe.)

Ah, we can expect to see Muddydwarf there then? ๐
Its funny really isn't it, I must've seen most of you at some point, but you don't really know who anyone is! MTG was rather distinctive with his kit and Rohloff'd bike, and like I say I cheered on the Bullheart jerseys whenever I passed one, but you don't actually know who's who!
Kinda wished I had a double on the second bit of the climb up to the obelisk, fair play to any SSers who made it!
this was the jersey to be seen in

Certainly noticed at least one of those!
Are the results up anywhere yet?
Nothing? Try getting overtaken by unicyclists. I'd say that comes close!
One of the unicyclists I was chatting to in the changeover area said he was doing 90 minute laps, so I'd guess that he was passing an awful lot of people ๐
sorry to be lazy but have you got any picks of 2091? ๐
Its funny really isn't it, I must've seen most of you at some point, but you don't really know who anyone is!
Cat with glowing red LED eyes strapped to the stem on a creaky singlespeed - 32/17 - everything was rideable on that, but there were a couple of places where it was more efficient to walk. Anyway, had an ace time, chatted with loads of folk, caught up with some old mates, met lots of new people, crashed into a tree etc. All over body ache this morning, but an ace weekend.
with a couple guys up the track warning riders to slow down
Two lanky looking fellas? - if so they were my sons & were pretty disgusted with the riders who weren't slowing down - Sam said he had to stand in the track with the injured riders bike & force them to slow down. Hope the rider makes a full & speedy recovery.
Luckily we did a practice lap on Friday at a sociable chatting pace and came across that dip in the descent while riding slowly.
I can just imaging how it could catch someone out if they found it unexpectedly at high speed.
Everyone seems to recognise me in my kit. I get loads of spectators shouting "Go Vegan" at me and lots of riders would come up behind me and shout "Hello MidlandTrailquestsGraham" as they passed.
I went in the Original source tent on my way from the finish back to the camp site.
I staggered up to the table and said "How many freebies can I take without being too cheeky"
"Have you just finished the race ?"
"Yeah, I've just ridden 200km in 24 hours with less than an hours sleep"
"Here, have a box of 24" ๐
You should revise that strategy, I managed 100k in a team of 4, with plenty of opportunity to sleep ๐

Yeah, I said hello to you somewhere near the arena. I was somewhere in the middle of a triple stint and mildly incoherent, so there was nothing that would be conventionally accepted as a conversation, but anyway, good ride and nice to say hello.
We shouted Go Vegan everytime you rode past our Saddle Skedaddle stand..........and you were lovely and waved each time ๐
By the way, thanks to whoever it was who was good enough to stop and lend me a chain tool when I snapped my chain near the monument at about 10pm.
I have to say, all the kids on the course were brilliant! All shouting encouragement, and the ones lining the straight before the Kenda climb giving high fives to all the riders were great.
There was just enough little bits and bats supplied by teams and spectators to stop it being a serious flat out suffer fest.Especially liked the little wooden jump down by the lakes.
I hope the two guys who fell over on the start run in front of me are okay. It reminded me of those wildlife films with the wildebeast crossing the crocodile infested rivers. ๐
p.s, I was wearing Crosstrax kit if anyone saw me/got passed by me (shouldn't be many of those!).
Just remembered, did anyone lend the Salsa rider a pump on the first lap about 100yds after the start? He was at the first gate shouting for someone to lend him one, before the straight run to the Kenda climb, I just tutted and carried on, schoolboy error on his part! ๐
Not mine, so credit goes to Martin Smyllie.
A couple of albums from on/around the Kenda Climb.

He posted the link on twitter so i guess they're free to peruse at your pleasure.
Even the official race marshal/safety guy was struggling to slow folks down.
Not a troll, but are people really too daft not to ride the course and suss things out and within their ability? Fancy having to tell people to slow down and not fall off in a MTB race ๐

I thought that - but you'd be amazed by the range of abilities of Mayhem riders..

That was Gee, who's a rather competent rider indeed - he got to his bike and it had a flat, so he used his CO2 to inflate it, then the tyre blew off the rim!
when are the results up?
The run race results are up now, so I'd guess at later on today. In this day and age I'm surprised it takes more than 24 hours!
didn't take that many photos as I was pit bitch for my brother. but there are a few on my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/james_hphotos/sets/72157627004327892/

That knee looks sore! I saw the guy in the suit nailing the run, and then never saw him again!
I thought that - but you'd be amazed by the range of abilities of Mayhem riders..
It's true. Everything from Complete Idiot to Riding God.
Well, that covers our team, anyway. ๐
Complete Idiot to Riding God
To be honest, that probably sums up how everyone feels about themselves at some point in the race!

Isn't it against the rules to be 'helped'?
You can be helped by anyone else on course.
I thought I saw him with a track pump?!

Very true ๐
I took a few, i'll sort them out tonight and put a few up.
Were there no official photographers? Quite fancy buying a few.
results are out now on the MM website
Guy in the suit was/is Geoff Beetham, General running god and a bit of a bike rider too in his prime, was more into winning tyres by riding fast up short hills and arsing about than actual racking up the laps....
