Weather seems to be better than forecast here in Gloucester. WIsh I was there and not here at work. Think the riders will get off fairly lightly rain wise. How wet is the course looking?
Where's the mountains? Where's the mayhem? 😉
😯
I hope the worst of the rain held off for them although the radar picture is still showing heavy showers drifting across that area this evening.
Tomorrow should be better but I would imagine the course will be pretty cut up by then.
Where's the mountains? Where's the mayhem?
You need mindovermatterhorn for that.
Looks absolutely thrilling
Good luck to the people doing it. But that pic sums up the atmosphere of MM, dull.
Is there actually any hills?
You not there chunky?
Is there actually any hills?
Hahaha, not ridden at Eastnor I take it? 😉
As confirmed by Sharki's Garmin, 10.3 miles and 1400ft of climbing per lap...
Is there actually any hills?
No it's dead flat and there's a cafe half way round for you to stop and tell each other how you owned that last gravel path. 😉
you jest, but a few years back STW had a bar set up on the course...
The Stella stop, it was very popular.
I remember the STW lurkers tent one year. First time solo, and I stopped at the top to watch the time tick by with 2 stellas and a doughnut. I have been a subscriber ever since.
450m of climbing per lap (per Matt Page's tweet yesterday).... a photo of the start/finish can be deceiving!
I'm sat at home this year anyway - my lounge is definitely flat.
and as for the gravel paths, some of them are well knarly...
Ive lost count of the velocakers and twitter buds i met today + 5 mlehworlders and one unknown random rider who said hi RD whilst passing
Only 977 photos to upload!
Very warm in the sun with occasional sharp showers
Oh and i met guy martin...chief
*Jealous*
Where are the mlehers camped? You going again tomo? Was Guy racing?
mlehers by the double decker bus (u can't miss it)
guy was racing in a smartie covered pisspot
nope, riding tomorrow

Nick Craig - one of the nicest people in the mtb world! Top man.
Lol @ Stu's comment 🙂

I couldn't think of anything more mind numbing than going to one of these stupid events with hundreds of other idiots everywhere I looked.
I bet that chap in the pic above and his mates all laugh everytime they see him in his fat suit. He is truly the funiest man alive, what a character!! I wish I rode with people like that...
I couldn't think of much more mind numbing than posting that sort of comment but there you go...
Mayhem does look like a good event and Nick Craig = legend. It's not just him that's an immensely nice guy and good on a bike, it's his whole family, very unfair 🙁
😉
It's dry 😯
I hope the sponsors are giving away some samples as that guy in the fat suit is going to need some 😀
sssssuuuuuuummmmmooooooo.................
just for Loddrick

My favourite event Mayhem, gutted I'm not there this year..
some people are never happier than when they're being miserable...
i have never done any of the big events like mm.
i might get a stw specialist team organised next year.
What was that clubber 🙂
oops 😳
Some people are never happier than when they are repeating themselves.... 😕
I'm disappointed it's dry aswell....I was hoping to see everyone dying in a muddy mixture of snapped mech hanger hell 😉
oops 😳 😉
Ton - you're not getting in the spirit of the thread... You're supposed to moan/criticise about the event without any first hand experience 😉

I'm in Tony. 6'2" and 16 stone, do I meet the minimum requirement?.
Is there an STW record for most repeated post?
What a pleasant fellow that bearded man in the STW tent is! He positively glowed when I revealed to him i was a subscriber .........

Bloody racing snakes coming on here trying to get in Ton's team!!!
Eat some pies with cheese and them come back and ask 😉
Heh, what tyres for carpet?
that run was insane, was it really 2.5km?
I can see why you are the I.T Director Clubber.

Hmm, you seem to have issues.
some people just need a point rammed home several times... 😉
With a sharp stick
that run was insane, was it really 2.5km
Took 30 mins for the slowest to walk it, so I guess so.
and one unknown random rider who said hi RD whilst passing
That was me.. (waves) 🙂
I believe I said hello to trailquestgraham
I also said hello to MTG, and any Bullheart jerseys I passed!
The wheely fellow is Trevor Allen, mad skills.
I saw some of the Team Bullheart guys whilst waiting for the baton. 😀

Would have taken more but this crash put pay to that, reduced us to a 3 man team 🙁

Crikey! What happened?!?
Ooh, is that the guy who broke his collarbone so they made a diversion around the tree to slow people down? Hope he's OK whatever happened to him!
Healing vibes to him, but how on earth did he manage to go down so hard in a flat field ? 😐
there;s a little dip and it's quite fast down to it (not really shown on that pic) people were accidently launching off the first lip and then hitting the second
sorry Graham, all i saw was the chelt cycling club top, no idea it was you *waves back*
my pictures here http://www.flickr.com/photos/rocketdog/sets/72157626869929347/
still 577 to go in that set, just doing that now, so you might find yourself in a few minutes (or maybe hours!)
Jo was putting in a cracking time till that point.
His wife reported back to us, having taken him to hospital.
Broken collarbone, and all the muscles down his back have gone
into spasam. So he's in a fair bit of pain, he's
vowed that he'll stick to road racing from now on... 8)
I had a nice weekend pit bitching and drinking beer/wine. A few piccies here...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/simondbarnes/sets/72157626998295898/
I was getting a bit nervous waiting for my lap - I was third, and there were multiple announcements over the PA and people talking about riders being hospitalised, broken ankles, broken collarbones, etc. Did wonder what I let myself in for...
Hope Jo recovers soon!
@rOcKeTdOg, some cracking pics there, thanks for sharing.
@simondbarnes, what no bike racing pics? is that a family picnic? lol
OmG sdb that baby frog is just toooooooo cute!!!
Well done to anyone who did it, seemed quieter this year at the start line than in previous years but full respect to everyone who had a go, spesh the soloists!! I've vowed that someday I shall do a proper race and be half decent, maybe in my 30th year to give me 24 months practice time 🙂
That last decent might look flat. It isn't. It actually 'processed' the energy bar I'd consumed at the top of the hill into, er, waste matter' by the time I'd got to the road crossing! 😯
Bouncy forks next year...
In reference to grahams crash photo.
I sat by there for a bit and that little bump was taking everyone by surprise, even when there was a guy unconcious on the floor with a couple guys up the track warning riders to slow down folks were still hitting it at full bore. The second guy, who i saw crash, properly nailed himself. Even the official race marshal/safety guy was struggling to slow folks down.
Can't believe it took them so long to do something about the hazard. The ambulance visited that spot four times before someone decided to do something about it.
Did anyone else see the wolverines in the ferns?
Noisy buggers!
jj55
funny that, we also didn't think the beardy guy in STW tent attempt at humour at our expense hilarious either!!
If Dwight (No 625) still had the energy to do that on the last lap he can't of been working hard enough 😆
Nice shot nunuboogie.
grahamh,
my team mate reported seeing that fellow of yours bounce down the trail in front of him. He's picture as the rider behind , said it looked really nasty, but was going to fast to stop and help. i hope he feels better soon.
