It's been over twenty years since I've been this far north but I've got a window for a trip up to Scotland for a couple of days in late August.
I've done a few of the big Cairngorm rides many years ago (probably late 90's/early 00's).
I've been doing some searching and I'm finding some routes (eg Twisty Trails on YouTube based Ed Shoote's book) around Northern Cairngorms but I've done a lot of them).
I'm curious about the "Perth" general area and I know @13thfloormonk is local to that area and he seems to have sniffed out some good rides.
Is the riding on the south/east side of the 'Gorms as "big mountain" as the north/west side. What about the area to further east towards to coast or the area north of Forfar?
The Strava heat map suggests it is a lot less popular.
Feel free to point me to relevant YouTube videos and/or Strava/Komoot/RideWithGPS accounts.
Basically, I want to narrow down my search area so I can check accommodation options (I'll need a B&B or Hotel). I'll probably have 2 or 3 days riding and I'll be solo, so I'm not looking for something where the MRT are gonna have to pull me out of...
Feel free to suggest other bases as well though I'm scared of rain, so I'm avoiding anything "West Coast" 😉
