I've been told it gets bad when it's wet and since I ride in gloop most of the time it'd be nice not to whilst I'm on my holybobs.

So will the Marin trail or CyB be less muddy?

I've been to a wet Penmachno (loop 1 I think) and I remember puddles, but not mud.

I'll recommend somewhere that isn't as popular but is a great ride. Have a look at Nant-Y-Arian. It isn't that wet and what mud there is is very clean, so you get back to the cart wet but clean, which is fine in my books. The descents are abolsutely brilliant and well worth doing. I prefer it to CYB.

Not muddy, but it will be biblically wet. I've never ridden there in the dry - make sure yor brakes work, wear some decent gloves and do the loop 2 extension, it'll be great fun.

If its wet (and it will be ime) then I'd be tempted to leave loop 2 for sake of keeping the feeling in your feet so you can enjoy all the ace bits toward the end of loop 1

Its the puddles/standing water that makes it wet, not any mud

CyB almost had no water on it start of december iirc
~300yds on mbr there was a stream, odd bits of puddle (nothing on penmachno) on bits of dragons back I think when I was there, though they may well have been the bits with the stream corssings in them
I'd guess CyB would be holdin gup well

I too prefer Nant yr Arian to Coed y Brenin.

Getinyourbike, Nant-Y-Arian sounds good but we're coming from Abersoch so it's just that bit too far.

I'm lending my friend my FS so I'll be on my rigid SS which will be interesting through the rock gardens at Brenin.

I'm up for Penmachno but I don't think he's too keen as 30k is
a bit long for and he's not been riding much.

theres one muddy section on penmachno about a 100 yards of shared bridleway out the back of loop 2. Other than that it can be wet and watery but not particularly muddy. Nanty Arian is a wet ride the bridleway over Banc Trawsnant is a river at the best of times but great fun anyway.

Is this the same Nant y Arian that I was up over my axles in water on during a heatwave a couple of years back? Hadn't changed at all this summer either, still great riding though.

As long as the mud isn't stopping my wheels turning I'll be happy.

"up for Penmachno but I don't think he's too keen as 30k is

easy choice then, keep it short and just do loop 1

the open/exposed bit will be over-the-hubs deep, the rest drains pretty well

yup.. loop 2 will be a river. Loop 1 will be the same all year round.. a bit wet, but no significant gloop.
