[#652156]

dumping the Mallets and Candy's, fed up of bending/breaking the springs and axles

which should I change to? I need three sets so it needs to be right

heavy rider so needs to be robust, ride all year so mud clearance/ tolerance is an issue. I want decent float and good retention etc etc

looking at one pair of fat DH style for the SS, 2 pairs of "normal XC"

what models and where to buy at the moment?

Your thoughts?

Time. I had Shimano years ago, broke them. Time ATAC's seem to be pretty indestructible.

Another vote for Time here. Tough as old boots.

The only concern with Time is that the old ones i used 10 years ago the bearing used to seize and then the pedal would unscrew

My Time Z Controls are now on their third bike in 7 years. I did bend one axle hitting a rock, but replaced with one from an even older Alium.
Atac carbons on the race bike.

If you're used to Crank Bros, Time are very similar. I used Time for a few years, then Eggbeaters when they first came out, then back to time when the Eggies kept falling apart.

Time pedals are very tough - good old-fashioned fit and forget components.

Time every time...

Except they don't break in the middle of no-where, and the importer don't talk down to you, telling you that you didn't complete the required maintenance.

Used Shimano pretty much exclusively in the last 10 years.
Dabbled with Look when they first came out and then a set of Ritchey Logics. The looks broke a spring and the Ritcheys got a bit rough.
Had various Shimano since then, 505s, 540s and 770s and never had an issue. The 505s are nearly 6 years old and used every daily on my hack bike. Grease them up twice a year and thats it.
No experience of Time, but im not looking to change from Shimano anytime soon. Im 17st so if they were weak i would have found out by now!
