is it 9/16 U.N.F?

Standard MTB threads are 9/16". A lot of BMX threads are (or certainly were) 1/2".
Not sure about roadies but I think they are 9/16" too.

mtb are 9/16 UNC -20 tpi - left and right threads .
old bmx and kids bike are 1/2 UNC - 20 TPI left and right threads.
