The 7hr ride was cavedale/mam tor etc as I remember saying in castleton me and iain will take the shortcut back to edale........the shock when you replied 'over mam tor old road then'

Since then all pootles have been circa 4hrs. Trust me if it went that slow a group would be allowed to splinter off the front.

Yeah that's it. I thought you were meaning that one from the description! Not to worry. I'm sure we'll have enough Magellans with us on the day to navigate back up the top of Hagg Side. Maybe up here

Is that meeting place near-ish the car park opposite Ladybower Inn? Only landmark I kinda know.

Jamie, from the ladybower inn, turn left over cutthroat bridge, you will see a sign for a pay and display car park on your left but there is limited free parking on the right side of the road too. If you get to the yorkshire bridge inn you have gone too far.

Jamie,

Dunno! I used to take something of a register but it was too much faff. All I say is make sure you're there within 15 minutes of the set time or you'll miss us!

You won't get lost. Take the bamford road over the bridge from the Ladybower in and we'll be in the big car park down there. Heatherdene it's called.

Wifey's shifts never fall on a Sat...never...

.....yep, you guessed it ๐Ÿ˜ฅ It would appear that a Peaks Pootle isn't meant to be.

And I was going to bake this yummy flap jack to hand out, ya make it with condensed milk, extra nuts and fruit n stuff, bit of honey and bung it in the oven....SO good....alas!

Ladies and Gents, on saturday if you hear a strangled mancunian/huddersfield shout from the woods, don't look. You won't ever recover from the hideous sight you see.

If he starts doing a Paula Radcliffe then I am going home.....even if I have to bike the 100 miles.

I think he tried to do Paula Radcliffe once. It's what got him into biking because he wasn't fit enough to keep up by running.

Yeah we definitely need a good group photo this time! The last few rides it's all been a bit ad hoc.

Top ride today. Many thanks to Chris for organising it.

Stats were

Ride time 2:40
Av speed 7mph
Distance 18.5
Elevation 2600 feet

I triumphantly announced to my wife this afternoon that I cleaned the Beast and she just looked at me blankly.

Cheers Matt

Awesome indeed! I too had a splendid time, first time out with STW people and everyone was very friendly and welcoming, thanks all.

Sorry we shot off without hanging around for a pint, I had to get back to help the wife corral and subdue a toddler hopped up on his grandparents' supply of sweets and chocolate.

Thanks to Pook for sorting it out and shepherding us all round a highly entertaining route. Didn't quite clean The Beast; next time...
