[Closed] Peak District - favourite view from a bike?

Hi

I dont know the Peak that well but am planning a trip soon.

What Id like is to hear about (or see!) are the best views available to a mountain biker.

The hill behind the Ladybower Inn springs to mind but the others always seem to me at least to be available to users of footpaths not bridleways

What Im thinking of is the view west from Kinder Scout - its really beautiful but only on a footpath

I dont want blood curdling downhills - just ideas for the most scenic ride

Cheers

(This aruably makes me a weirdo)

not a 'great' pic i know, but its nice to be able to look back down on Jacobs ladder and realise what you've just climbed!

I love the view across to Edale and Kinder from Hollins Cross. It was the first trail we rode after the trails reopened after foot and mouth and I'll never forget just how privileged it felt to be standing there again gawping at this beautiful sweeping view of the Kinder Plateau after being deprived of it for weeks.

Also the sun setting from the shooting cabin end of Middle Moor and, if you sneak around the corner there, the view of Kinder Downfall across the Reservoir is lovely.

One of my favorite views is looking back down the now defunct road that leads to Castleton.

I quite like the view from Black lane above Mellor cross looking out toward Kinder.
Or from the same spot the views are quite good over towards Manchester and the Cheshire plains.

Probably this view toward Hope Cross, Lose Hill, Mam Tor, Rushop Edge:

Though as above, Whinstone Lee Tor is probably a close second:

Hmmmm... looking at these pics makes me wonder why I've only ridden in the peaks about 4 or 5 times despite only living 40 mins away from Hayfield.

Must try harder.

Didmatt's pic showing the dry, dusty trail...................... seems like an age ago.

Lowey, that was taken back in April, seems so long ago! I really need to get out more in the peaks also.
