Going peak district tomorrow with a mate....
Been once before but only to monsal and then did Derwent valley
Which location has the nicest trails?? Fa st and flowing is what im after
๐
I hear hope Valley is good?
Around hope is probably the best base, yes.
Fast? Yes
Flow? Hmm, sometimes
Rocks? Yes, lots. bring suspension.
(PS I love it)
Beast and screaming mile always make me smile plus the descent to the back of the lady bower pub is amazing if half dry
I've always found parts of the white peak is more fast and flowy than the dark which is mostly more technical. If you have the VB White peak book, the Linacre classic or the 5 dales routes are particularly good.
A) you'll maybe be needing a map...
B) the names people give the bridleways won't appear on the map.
C) the best trails aren't even on the map
D) ...have I been trolled? I'm pretty drunk, it's hard to tell.
Rushup edge...
Sorry
Lerk??
Sorry Bigfoot, bit of black humour there... DCC are currently midway through tarmaccing it!
Cave Dale
Jacobs Ladder
Roych Clough - sadly Rushup Edge which was good is now gone
Linking these up is a full ride
Best group of trails reasonably close together is probably around Lady Bower but again quite a ride linking them up. If you google there is a Peak District site which describes the best known trails. Its a bit late to be doing research though !
For a good intro to the peak you can't beat the loop round ladybower & derwent reservoir on the tops. Winn hill, loose hill, derwet edge. Lots of rock, some brutal-ish climbs, but not to too techy on the downs (other than the beast). There's even a cafe halfway round at fairholmes
Fast and flowing is going to be mighty subjective in The Peak...
Potato Alley is fast but not really flowy.
The Beast and Cavedale are neither.
Lockerbrook is both... to an extent.
Pindale is both.
WLT / Cutthroat Bridge can be all things depending on conditions.
Hagg Farm is fast AND flowing, except for the gates...
Jaggers is both, depending on which direction you're going.
They're all worth doing though. Forget fast or flowing and just think fun...
Jambalaya- Cheers dude! I know yeah, It was a last minute decision though
Start at Hope...
Up Roman Road
Down Beast
Left onto A57
Up Rowlee Farm
Down Lockerbrook
Up Fire Road
Down Hagg Farm
Along res
Up Bastard Climb
Down fields adjacent Roman Road
Descents from Mam Nick and Hollins Cross are pretty flowy and fun.
Here's a vid with around 14 trails on to give you an overview of the options:
