[Closed] Pannier rack for a disc-braked 'cross bike?

Try tortec transalp disk.

Thatll go over a caliper and looked decent to boot.

How ever ive yet to compe across a rack that cant be easily modified to fit with disks.....

If it's just for a few bits, have you looked at the Bridge Street Saddlebags? You won't be stuck with a rack on your cross bike then....

Blackburn EXP1 disc for me, it's on my hard tail at the moment as I can't quite bring myself to put it on the new CX bike just yet. Keeping that for "best" for a few weeks 😈

I'm sure you've decided on a rack as the way to go, but I do a similar commute with a £15 Karrimor running rucksack from sports direct - it's one of the soft ones so you can pack the weight low on to your hips, and I can get clothes including shoes in there - just take a towel in on a car day and swap. Working out best for me so far of all the options I've tried.

+3 Topeak. It's pretty light too, if you worry about that sort of thing. Needs a bit of bodging or an extra clip to fix a rear light to it.

My laptop goes in my Caradice SQR Tour slim.

I'm looking for similar - tending to the Tortec, can be had for c. £20 last I looked, or about £25 / £30 in LBS.

Looking at some of the above - the Tubus is a QR mount (I have eyelets at the rear triangle) and the Axoim is a P-clamp (I have braze-on mounts). Alternative for me seems to be the Topeak as above.

I bought a Tubus Disco as I thought it was one of the best looking racks and I wanted something I could fit to a disc frame easily (although Googling suggests you can probably bodge most racks onto most frames). I'd say it's worth the money; it's pretty light and seems bomb-proof so should last forever!

Topeak +lots. Been using one for years. It's top. Mudguards though. That's a different issue ..... grumble grumble.

also the second rack posted above isn't an Axiom, it's another Tubus (Vega) which is why it looks so good! Axiom racks look very clunky IMO (as do Topeak, although I'm sure they're very well made/functional).

I have an Axiom Streamliner and am really pleased with it. It was less than £100 for the rack and panniers and I have used it commuting and touring. It is all really well made and the panniers are waterproof.

Portland Design Works Payload racks can apparently handle discs.

I posted a similar thread a while ago - couldn't find a pannier rack that was both suitable for discs and had a slim enough fixing point. So we ended up filing down an existing Topeak (it has massive square sections that provide the spacing around the disc) - had to take a chunk off the corner to get it to align with the frame fixing point, but it works well now.

I've got a tubus whatever-it-is in the wardrobe from when Evans were getting rid for £25.

It's the 26" one, but it still sits a bit high on the Peregrine - eyelets are on the seatstays above the disc mount.

I'm hoping to get someone to artfully rearrange it for me.

Picture 2 shows it on a bike with discs.

Looks like the Axiom isn't available, so its time to get onto Tubus bargain hunting...
