Packing? Already!

Pfft

I'm just setting up bike no 1, just the rear cones to adjust and job's a good 'un. Might even clean it, but looking at the weather it might not be worth it....

Then bike no 2, needs some brake fettling and new tyres/tubes

Bike no 3 is ready to go

Just need to dig out the camping stuff, sort some food, earplugs, drink, spare bike parts etc etc

Then work out how to cram it all into the back of my Seat Ibiza...

Wet and windy, nice!

Can't quite decide what to stick on my best set of wheels. Got ralphs, SB8's, HR's, mud x's and trailrakers. I suspect it might have to be the mud x's, switching to the trailrakers as Somme conditions develop ๐Ÿ™

How quickly does the course deteriorate into a mud bath? Can we expect a few decent laps before that happens?

I always leave fast tyres on my good wheels. Once the course is a mud bath and your bike has about 10 lbs of mud on it, 200g isn't going to make much difference.

Obviously it depends on the intensity of the rain, but I recall a few years back when there was a nice little step-down section on the Friday during practice. After the first (very wet) lap on Saturday the steps had dissolved.

Trailrakers are OK if 1.8", otherwise your frame may well clog anyway. I'm looking forward to it, but it'll be terrible conditions.

Do they do trailrakers in 1.8? Got 1.95's and they are pretty narrow. Can't even see trailrakers on the panaracer web site now and the only sizes I can see in stores are the 1.95.

I was thinking of Fire XC - really, you need some Conti 1.5s to really cut through the mud, though they're a total liability on tree roots. I can't remember how many times I crashed, but it was a large number....

Well hoping that a lot of winter riding earlier this year will help me stay up. Anyone tempted to run flats if it gets really muddy?

What actually constitutes a bike?

I saw a guy run around with a bike on his back at SITS once. No wheels. ๐Ÿ˜†

Could you just run around with a pair of handlebars?

CX are banned and there is a minimum tyre width of 1.5"*. But I guess flat bars and 1.5" tyres would turn it into a 29er.

*Last time I looked.

1.5" Schwalbe Mud Sharks here...

I never put them on because I'm always too optimistic that the course will dry out for my next lap, but in reality as soon as it gets a bit wet the volume of traffic turns it into custardy hell.

Not packed yet, but I have a kit list split into bike, clothes, camping and food subsections. Yes, I'm that retentive.

I should've put a section on training but that seems to have passed me by. Again.

Any paperwork we need to bring along on the day? I seem to recall sending them a SAE but don't recall getting it back, though my filing system and memory are both piss poor.

After the onset of drizzle, it takes a few hours. If it starts raining properly, an hour maybe.

1.8 Trailrakers, Swampthings, Mud Sharks or something else very skinny and very knobbly. This is an absolute essential.

Yes, but they usually bring huge 2.5" things. That or they sell out of everything else instantly.

It'll be wet enough to use that tiller that you have the bars clamped to

Also amazed that the pedals have not come in for abuse yet - will be switching to the egg beaters later - I wonder if they could double as bottle opener?!

Looking at the latest forecast, the updated list now includes boat, oars, outboard motor and bilge pump.

What rowlocks can I fit to an Inbred?
