Anyone know about the compatability of these (I think they're 7x9mm) with a standard seatpost ? I get the impression they won't fit or I may need some adaptor ???

A few manufacturers do clamps specifically for oval rails. USE come to mind, as I bought one a few years back.

Depends on the seatpost.

Anything with a side fixing is unlikely to work, but top & bottom clamps should be fine.

carbon rails usually need a post where the rail clamp is a long groove rather than just small stubs that the rails rest on - I'd check on the manufacturers site for the fitting instructions.

i noticed recently that Ritchey have a carbon specific adaptor for their carbon posts when carbon rails are being used. If it looks dodgy then it probably is....
