I fell off at lunchtime on some ice. My helmet took the brunt of the impact, but it still left me with a bloody nose, bloody mouth and bleeding from my right ear.

I'm not worried about a nosebleed or a bloody lip, but my ear! Should I get it checked out?

If Casualty is to be believed that could be a fractured skull.

Sorry

Seriously, if yer head's taken a bang, it's always best to get medical advice from someone qualified.

No clear fluid, just nice bright red blood. When I took the wooly hat and scarf off, I had to wring out the hat as there was about as much from my ear as from the nosebleed.

Other than a bit of a headache, I'm fine though.

Nothing to see, except a bit of blood on my black wooly hat and scarf. I've had a shower in work now and a sit down and am starting to feel a bit better.

A&E in Cardiff? Not a chance, I'll be in the waiting room until Boxing Day.

at least get to see your gp - bleeding from inside your ear really isn't a good thing - it takes a really serious impact to burst blood vessels in there.

If you start to feel sick and can't focus - don't worry, it'll be nothing.

How many people do you want to tell you to go and get it checked out now? I'll add to that - go and see someone medically qualified. Sounds nasty - hope it's nothing serious.

Get someone else to get you to A+E or doctors, might not be a good idea to drive/cycle yourself there incase of blackout?

if the bloods truely come from your ear canal then its a base of skull fracture until proven otherwise, not being funny mate but if thats the case you need full in line immobilization then a scan / xray and monitoring, probably overnight

why ignore all the above advice that you've asked for?

Go to A&E as soon as TJ gets here and informs you quite how much better it would have been if you hadn't been wearing a helmet.

You can all tell him what you like but I know he won't listen. After all he's got an ear full of blood. ๐Ÿ˜€ IGMC.

Seriously, at least go & see your GP to eliminate the possibilities.

Base of skull fracture
- also known as basal skull fracture. Might make it easier to Google.

Quick question before you die. Have you already muddied the gene pool, or can we wave you goodbye with a happy heart?

Make sure you tell us the reaction from the A&E reception when you tell her you've had blood coming out of your ears all afternoon and you decided to pop into the hospital on your way home from work rather than straight away.

Right, I'm home now after being checked out. I went to my GP on the way home and he know's I won't go to A&E, so he checked me out. Everything is fine, apart from a bit of a bruise on my head and near my jaw, the bleeding from my ear is from within the outer ear and just a bit of a split from the bash, so nothing serious. The bloody nose looked more serious than it was as my scarf caught all the blood and spread it round my face. The bloody mouth was just my split lip and from between a few of my teeth. Judging from the state of my helmet, GP reckons it saved my life.

Since I'm not going to die, time for some cider.

Is that the sound of TJ approaching to inform you that had you *not* been wearing a helmet your injuries would have been far less.

Remember kids: Helmets KILL.
