I fell off at lunchtime on some ice. My helmet took the brunt of the impact, but it still left me with a bloody nose, bloody mouth and bleeding from my right ear.
I'm not worried about a nosebleed or a bloody lip, but my ear! Should I get it checked out?
If Casualty is to be believed that could be a fractured skull.
Sorry
What from inside your ear??
I'd get it checked asap. Get thissen to A+E!!!!!
Seriously, if yer head's taken a bang, it's always best to get medical advice from someone qualified.
from inside your ear?
Any clear fluid with it??
(I've watched Casualty too)
Get off this forum and get yourself to A&E, pronto.
No clear fluid, just nice bright red blood. When I took the wooly hat and scarf off, I had to wring out the hat as there was about as much from my ear as from the nosebleed.
Other than a bit of a headache, I'm fine though.

That's nearly a head full.
If there is no obvious cut on ear/side of head GO TO HOSPITAL!
Yeah...bleeding from your ears is not a good sign.
Yeah...bleeding from your ears is not a good sign.
Unless your married and then its quite normal
Seriosuly though I hope your not still here but winging it to A&E and let us know your okay
Having done a First Aid course earlier this year
HOSPITAL
NOW
get to a + e but not before you post pics ๐
Nothing to see, except a bit of blood on my black wooly hat and scarf. I've had a shower in work now and a sit down and am starting to feel a bit better.
A&E in Cardiff? Not a chance, I'll be in the waiting room until Boxing Day.
at least get to see your gp - bleeding from inside your ear really isn't a good thing - it takes a really serious impact to burst blood vessels in there.
If you start to feel sick and can't focus - don't worry, it'll be nothing.
๐
Bleeding from the ear is a que jump. You'll be in and out sharpish.
How many people do you want to tell you to go and get it checked out now? I'll add to that - go and see someone medically qualified. Sounds nasty - hope it's nothing serious.
Get someone else to get you to A+E or doctors, might not be a good idea to drive/cycle yourself there incase of blackout?
if the bloods truely come from your ear canal then its a base of skull fracture until proven otherwise, not being funny mate but if thats the case you need full in line immobilization then a scan / xray and monitoring, probably overnight
why ignore all the above advice that you've asked for?
Go to A&E as soon as TJ gets here and informs you quite how much better it would have been if you hadn't been wearing a helmet.
It's not often that I'd post 'You could die' but;
'You could die'
please do the sensible thing.
You can all tell him what you like but I know he won't listen. After all he's got an ear full of blood. ๐ IGMC.
Seriously, at least go & see your GP to eliminate the possibilities.
Bleeding from the ear is hospital sharpish, do not drive your self get someone to get you to A&E.
Good luck.
Ok, I get the message - I'll cycle over there on my way home. I'll let you know the outcome in the morning.
Cheers guys.
Erm, why don't you go now?
[s]Hopefully by now you've been scared into going to A&E...
If you haven't though, can you keep posting so that we know you're not dead?
ta[/s]
[edit]Rats, didn't see his response till afterwards. Anyway, you can't wait till tomorrow to tell us, we won't be able to sleep. Updates throughout the night please.[/edit]
I think the bang on the head has knocked you senseless, A&E can't believe your on here asking ๐
sounds like bad aids to me, does your bum hurt?
- also known as basal skull fracture. Might make it easier to Google.Base of skull fracture
I'll cycle over there on my way home. I'll let you know the outcome in the morning
Quick question before you die. Have you already muddied the gene pool, or can we wave you goodbye with a happy heart?
Where's TJ when you need him
If you keel over on the way to the hospital, can I have your stuff?
It's like a St Johns Ambulance convention in here ๐
Make sure you tell us the reaction from the A&E reception when you tell her you've had blood coming out of your ears all afternoon and you decided to pop into the hospital on your way home from work rather than straight away.
Nothing to worry about.
Pics or it never happened. ๐
& now a short message from a brain surgeon... (not me)
Go to A&E
Right, I'm home now after being checked out. I went to my GP on the way home and he know's I won't go to A&E, so he checked me out. Everything is fine, apart from a bit of a bruise on my head and near my jaw, the bleeding from my ear is from within the outer ear and just a bit of a split from the bash, so nothing serious. The bloody nose looked more serious than it was as my scarf caught all the blood and spread it round my face. The bloody mouth was just my split lip and from between a few of my teeth. Judging from the state of my helmet, GP reckons it saved my life.
Since I'm not going to die, time for some cider.
Judging from the state of my helmet, GP reckons it saved my life.
Yeah right, drama queen.
๐
he bleeding from my ear is from within the outer ear and just a bit of a split from the bash,
You big girls blouse! You had us worried there! ๐
Oh No! the St Johns Ambulance boys will have to find something else to bandage...
Judging from the state of my helmet, GP reckons it saved my life
I thought it was your head you knocked.. not your goolies..?
Incidentally... the best way to tell that you've drunk enough cider is when blood starts comin out yer ears..
GP reckons it saved my life
Is that the sound of TJ approaching to inform you that had you *not* been wearing a helmet your injuries would have been far less.
Remember kids: Helmets KILL.
Pictures please!

I think he's disappeared in a puff of statistics
