I used to crash a lot, where Enthusiasm > Skill, these days i don't crash nearly so much.

Well this eve, ouch, that was a biggy!  Defo used up one of my nine (ish) lives, and actually slightly amazed to walk away (well hobble) with what i think are just a few bruised ribs, It was a proper yard sale of a crash.....

Doubled a pretty high speed gap, landed off line, front washed out, i saved it, but in doing so ran outta road so to speak.  Stump stopped front wheel dead in it's tracks and i submarined into the bars like a car running into a solid wall, then the suspension and tyres rebounded and i got thrown off down the trail like a rag doll...

Many thanks to the guy who stopped check that was alright! It's really difficult to say "don't worry i'm just badly winded" when, er, in the middle of being badly winded.......

Be careful boys and girls, as dry trails are now fast trails.......

yeah, not a bloody scratch!  I saved it from being scratched by letting it land on the back of my head........

I was trying to keep my bike clean so skirted a patch of mud and figured I could take a line that brushed past the twigs of a fallen tree. Part of my brain said 'don't you think those twigs look a bit substantial?' and another part said 'nah it's fine stop worrying'.  Well, my progress was stopped by being stabbed in the chest by a strong twig.  My initial thought was 'OMG I've been stabbed in the chest!' and the strong sense of alarm continued for several minutes after I realised I'd just been bruised in the chest.  I then noticed a big chunk of wood sticking out of my arm.  Tried to pull it out but couldn't, I thought it must be in really deep!  Then I realised I was pulling arm hairs, and when I got the chunk out it was only in about half a mm.

The most alarming crash for the least amount of actual damage I think I've had.

I once crashed on a night ride, hit my sternum on a fence post. I felt winded as hell. Thought I’d better get up as there were riders behind me & couldn’t move. I thought I was paralysed until I realised the strap of my Camelbak had slipped over the post & was pinning me to it!

(turned out I’d bruise my sternum too which was nearly as bad as the time I broke my coccyx crashing into a tree stump.)
