Whether on my motorbike or mtb I always assume that cars are going to pull out.

I'd have crossed in front of the car a bit slower.

I suppose the video could be used in evidence if necessary?

I guess there's only really 2 things to say, it was totally the car driver's fault, but that still wouldn't have happened to me. "Not my fault" unbreaks no bones...

Looks painful ๐Ÿ™
It looks like cars fault, although I could see it coming, think I'd have been going a bit slower just to make sure!
anyone know how the rider is now?

Jesus, you just see spots of blood dropping on the tarmac, We need to find this guy and find out if he's ok and find out how his bike is doing!

Was riding Home the other day and a car going at least 50+ was about an inch away from clipping me.
Car drivers need to wise up, If you see someone who's freakin' Luminous orange or yellow, give them some room!

Proper pissed off now, Bloody car drivers!

Oh, whilst i'm still ranting, cycle paths in Cheshire are covered in glass in lots of places, My tyres are shredded!

Keep it real.
Ellis.

Agree with the first one that Pook said.

2nd thing Pooke said: Good idea! but he was already through and the driver failed to give way. Ok Maybe slower he would not have been so badly hurt.

-well I'm going to slow down for junctions from now on Jeebers/wince.
Poor guy but mistakes happen. Hope he recovers (OUCH!)

This is one of the reasons I started using a camera on my commute. SMIDSY. Well I saw you, so did my camera.

Did he signal?

Did he signal?

That is kind of irrelevant, legally the car should not have pulled out regardless of signalling or lack thereof, but he should have signaled that he was not going left at the first exit.

looks like car's fault to me.
i'm not trying to mitigate the drivers in-attention but you really do have to assume the worst with cars as your profile to the driver is really quite small.

lets all take something from this.

Hope you're ok dude, whoever you are!

Coffeeking, your premise is incorrect. The cyclist was going straight over, and as such, would have been misleading to give either a right hand indiction, or to signal left until passing the first (left hand) junction from which the car emerged. He was also in the centre of his lane, and so did nothing wrong.

The idea you should slow down, whether in a car bike or motorbike at every priority you have just in case you have not been seen is unworkable in practice, or london will slow to an even slwoer crawl that it is already.

And as for the idea he should have been going slower and would have avoided the accident, is a step beyond "defensive driving". Indeed last week, in the clear right hand lane, a car pulled out from staitonary, in the left hand lane, over 30 yards from red traffic lights. I was on a motorbike, and he did so so quickly, I didn't have time to react. I am a poor motorcycle rider, ie I can't "ride well" (ie cornering speeds, ect) but am very safety consious, as I work in a personal injury cliams dept for directline. I have absolute safety in mind, and am more cautious and observant than frankly 90% of other bikers I see. I do ride "assertively" though ie to be seen, but don't undertake, or ride agressively, nor generally break speed limits. But I could not have avoided the accident I had. The early warning signs of say seeing the front wheels turn- well it happened too quickly.
