Specifically the Rallon 50

Anyone any experience with Orbea?

I confess I don't know much about them. Wife has seen the Rallon on Winstanley bikes and likes the look of it

What are they like, any warranty experiences? know failures, or are they solid bikes?

Thanks in advance

I dont know anyone who has riden one of their mountain bikes (i dont think i've even seen one on a trail either - presumably their high end ones are good though as Julien Absalon won Olympic gold riding one) but their road bikes are very nice indeed - The frames on the road bikes have a lifetime warranty dont know about the mtbs though.

Good company too part part of a Basque workers cooperative

Orbea's a funny one. They used to make roadie and off roadie bikes very well. They have recently gone into the trail / am market with the Rallon and then, more recently, the Occam.

I've ridden a Rallon. It's a nice bike. I didn't have enough time on it to say anything more than that. My friend rode one for a weekend and loved it. He almost bought it. As well, the Occam looks absolutey stunning, the one I had a look at was the top of the range carbon one and it looks like a stunning trail bike.

We see a fair number of them out here but they aren't as popular as they should be for the quality of the frames. I think this is due to them struggling to shake off their 'off roadie' image.

I know around 3-4 people with the Rallon. Never heard of any issues but that's a small sample size. Not heard any bad words about them at all through my Spanish friends.

I've visited the factory where they assemble them and have been speaking to the guys. I'm waiting to get a bike to review for my site but it's taking a while to sort out. When it comes I'll ride it for a couple of months and write a detailed review.

Ridden a carbon occam. Was OK. But I am not mad keen on suspensiom. I had a relatively inexpensive Solid Index 115mm travel suspension frame at the at time which I thought was as good as the occam. Though as I say not mad keen on full suspension.

Also ridden an Alma 29er. Very nice bike. Light and fast. I rode it in an off road duathlon and really liked it. Very dast rolling. Only issue I had was clearance for the back tyre. It clogged really badly.

Rented an Orbea on holiday years ago in Spain. It looked like it had been given a hard life and still rode fine. Don't know what the new ones are like.

The new ones are a big step forward by all accounts. The Occam uses a very similar suspension design to the split pivot so I guess it works well. Time will tell. Picto with all due respect you are probably more the market that they aim their hardtails at. With the full suspension there seems to be a move towards trail / all mountain. Anyway, that's all I know for now!
