This was RAL 3001 (Traffic Red) done by Andy at Triple S. I took it out on its first ride since the rebuild in the snow this evening. It looks orange when pictured with flash but more reddish in daylight.

Edit: Sorry not sure how to include pics so a link via the word 'This' is the best I can do

Renton,

finish wise it's not argos etc , but the price reflects this. It's a nice sturdy paint job that hasn't chipped in the last 2 years of abuse.
If it was a IF, then it would be getting the Argos treatment, but it's an inbred. And 45 sheets brought a very tired and tatty frame a new lease of life. ( It rides better too, honest!!)

Hi Jerome,
Can't remember exactly as I was picking from the colours they had in stock, but RAL 6027 sounds about right, could have been 6034 :o)

Renton- what frame is it? You dont want the finish to be similar to a previous year(s) same frame model do you?

Im having a 456 refinished in RAL 1003 Signal yellow.

Poor shot, but you can get an idea of the orangeyness (it's a sort of slightly creamy, Sainsbury's orange orange).

You know you wants the baby blue Enduro!

[img] [/img]

The Gulf colours are a good idea. Blue front with orange rear. You will have to get some graphix made up because you cant buy them unless somebody has recently started thats why mine had SX trail ones. But orange stickers on the blue front end would look good.

Quick bit of research suggests you want 5012 for the blue (thats the same as mine was) and 2008 for the orange. A good powdercoater should be able to do some sort of blend at the back of the front triangle.

References.

right im a bit concerned now as ive just been reading the other thread about the chap who is getting a heckler powdercoatd.

santa cruz have told him not as it will wreck the frame??

something to do with the heating process.

anyone shed some light on it for me please!

Tracey and AndyM - Those blue enduros are gorgeous. I would have never thought those shades would look so good on a frame like that! ๐Ÿ˜€

Sme fraome, in 2 different guises

Original out the box 853 Inbred baby blue
[img] [/img]

Argos powdercoated orange after a snapped chainstay
[img] [/img]

Just looking at those pics now it's difficult to believe, even to me, that those pics are technically the same bike!

About the only unchanged parts now are the chainset, shifters, headset and front wheel now. SInce the second pic was taken the rear wheel has been rebuilt onto a new hub and the bars, stem, tyres, saddle and grips changed

Renton just make sure the coaters know its Ali and that they will use a low temp coating. The high temp ones can bend the frame. There are plenty of people on here who have their Ali frames powdercoated not to mention that santa cruz actually sell frames new that are powdercoated!

Andy M/Renton - Yes I have another post about PC my Heckler Brilliant White but a peeps say that the integrity of the welding could be compromised??? SC, like any other company will always say modifying anything will invalidate warranty so no really bothered and my warranty runs out in a few months!

When I take it to my local PC I'm just gonna tell them its Alu.
