Any ideas on how best to achieve this? Got a few events later this year and dont want to use my Camelbak.

mine has some mounts on the top tube near the seat post, but new ones may not have this.
Cable ties and inner tube shim?????

Cable ties probably would be the only half-decent way, it would either have to be on the top tube or under the down tube though, which could be a bit crap

Forget the top tube mounted ones, we were always having bottles falling out when they came as standard. I'd try some bolt on jobbies from the likes of DMR, and fit them on the seatpost if you're intent on ditching the camelbak.
