I have been offered a set of these brakes cheaply and i wondered what the general feeling about them was? Only brakes i have used are avids juicy 5 and onwards how do they compare to these?

IME they are far more reliable than Juicy 5s and look much nicer.

Used to use them - went over to Avid 5 and 7's but have been driven mad by Avid brake's "attention-seeking" ways - so looking to go back to Hope. Take 'em - if you just want brakes that stop without demanding constant attention.

Got two sets, black&gold bling ones and the new silver&black. Can't fault them, much prefer them to the Avids i have tried and my (limited) experience with Shimanos.

E: new ones seem a lot more powerful. I'm using floating rotors and superstar organics pads, the older ones are on standard rotor and hope pads.

I love them, If you bleed them good they are super good, the lads at Hope were at MM this year and I ask them to tweak the calipers abit and now there just like when i first bought them. ๐Ÿ˜€

I like them, easy to bleed, low maintenance, work for me (xc).

My gf has avid 3, never been right (from new) and seem to require special tools to bleed.

Low maintenance, really really easy to work on and bleed, spares available at the drop of a hat.

However they are more about modulation than pure stopping grunt, great XC brakes.
