I have three bikes with three different brake sets.

The Formula Oro & Hope Mini'S take Dot5.1
The Hayes Stroker's take Dot 3 or 4.

Guess which bottle of brake fluid i picked up this afternoon in an attempt to bleed the Hayes? ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Have i done any un-fixable damage? If i flush out the system with Dot 4 will it be OK?

(Was only a little Dot5.1 as i was trying to top up with a syringe)

DOT 4 and 5.1 will be ok together AFAIR. DOT 3 won't be though.

All DOT (except DOT 5.0) are fine if mixed.

DOT 3, DOT 4, Super DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are Glycol Esther based while DOT 5.0 is a Silicone base fluid.

Phew!

Was considering the unpleasant possibility of a complete break-seal failure & a rebuild...

Just been onto CRC & bought a Hayes bleed kit - complete with CORRECT brake fluid!

Thanks folks ๐Ÿ™‚
