Having been running the 120tpi 2.4 folding flavour Ibex for a few of months they were fast becoming my favoured tyre over my usual go-to High Roller. However, continuous pressure loss and a small tear in the sidewall, (and by small I mean really small) caused me to re-consider, and since the tear I've been forced to run the rear with a tube in it. But 3 snakebite punctures in 3 runs and a lot of swearing at Aston Hill at the weekend put pay to my race weekend - even when I upped the pressure to about 35psi. I don't think the the and rim like a tube between them.
I noticed that when pushed into corners, at places like BPW and Aston, the Ibex seems to roll on the rim in corners when running anything around 24-26psi. My rims are Spank Oozy 295 so should be ample enough as my high rollers on much thinner rims never had this issue. Has anyone else experienced similar (loss of pressure, rolling) on the Ibex and does anyone ride the thicker 60tpi carcass and notice any issues?
Otherwise I'm just going to chuck them in the bin and start the 1000th thread about "which tyre...".
No
I really likes them, never had any issues like you describe, wouldnt say they rolled much at similar psi on slightly wider 30mm internal rims
Annoyingly I really like them too (when they behave). The cornering grip is night and day between them and the HR2.
Maybe I'm just unlucky and should buy the enduro casing instead.
Thin sidewalls and carcass. The don't have much low pressure composure as a result, and as you have found are pinch prone.
The only thing you can do is run them harder, and the magic bagins to disappear.
It'd they had another 100g in the sidewalls, or a stiffener of some type, or even less too,ย it would be a great tyre.
