ok i no a hell of alot of people here have them. they r quite cheap frames on the website.
whats every1's opinions on them?
what would deffinatly like to no is
would it take 160mm fork? (recomend a length for it)
is the steel frame heavy?
is it more forgiving than a Al hardtail?
does it take bigish drops that you would expect from 6 inch fork?

1) No idea - run 140mm on my Summer Season but use it as an everyday bike too
2) It's about par for the course regarding steel frames so is about a pound and a half heavier than a reasonable alu one
3) Way way more forgiving than an alu hardtail, certainly more than my old Pace RC303, Spesh S Works & Yeti ARC (proper XC racers though the last two)
4) No idea but I'm sure there are owners on here that can answer that.

top frame - buy one you won't regret it

In the 2.5 years I have had mine it gone from 130mm revelation fitted geared to revs and singlespeed, just about to go to 140mm pikes and gears again (getting a p7 singlespeed on cycletowork)

its about the best "just get on and ride" bike around I would say

as for drops, depends how good you are at landing them. Its not a 6" travel all mountain bouncer, or a little dj bike

Thinking about it, for all the years I've been on STW, I can never remember seeing a bust 456 frame.

(awaits somebody knowing a friend of a friend who bust a 456 frame JRA ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

160mm forks will be fine.
I did the Dyfi enduro on it and loved it.
I've launched it at the jump spot, ragged it down DH tracks and is one of the most versatile bikes I ever owned.
I regret selling it and will get another soon.

I bought a 20" frame off Ton at the start of last year which was battered but sound. Ton is a big chap who rides in proper mountain bike country so they are certainly strong. I used it with a Fox 36 Talas in the alps last year with travel at 130mm most of time but it was fine on 160mm and fantastic on the DH runs (for a HT).

I then sold it to my brother at the start of this year but have now bought another one to build up as I missed it on all day rides when I travelled to Wales etc.

I have dropped a 6 footer to a fairly flat landing on mine with 130mm forks and it took it in its stride. Having said that my mate did the same drop on his Rockhopper with no probs.

I've now swapped it for a Summer with 140mm Vans and its even better!
