Nice. Might be your first 29er build but you haven't exactly skimped...but then I'm guessing going on previous daffy builds, that bargains were had ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bigsi - It felt very odd on it's first ride, but have since lowered the stack height and and increased the fork sag and it feels muuuuch better. It does seem to roll forever.

Nuke - Only the front hub, rims and forks (heavily discounted from wiggle) were bought new. ๐Ÿ™‚

I do like a bargain.

That looks super nice - and fast too. Good work.

Are you running those Bonty's in these current dry conditions? Thought you'd have gone for something a little faster rolling?

I don't think it's stopped raining in western Cumbria for weeks now. ๐Ÿ™

They've been okay at everything/everywhere except Whinlatter (and nothing works too well at whinlatter) so far.

Cheers mick, I do try.

I've pretty much abandoned singlespeed in favour of this.

Don't listen to him! I get the same comment all the time, but I used the very same tyres to do a sub-20hr South Downs Double on the hottest day of the year, come 2nd at D2D in the rain, come 2nd at TwentyFour12 in the dry and win a dry-ish SITS solo a few weeks ago. There's not many lighter 29er tyres out there (only Stans I think?) unless you go super skinny, they work in the mud and they seem to roll more than fast enough ๐Ÿ˜‰

what is your weight with those 355's?

Those are Arch rims not 355s and they're 1708g for the pair. Not too shabby for 29er wheels.

robdeanhove - they're remarably similar in feel to a Mud-X, they too roll surprisingly well in almost all conditions.

Daffy,

Do you have a full spec list and a weight? My Mama arrives this week and my build is going to look VERY similar - with the exception of the forks and and the CK hubs. Would be interested to know if you had your wheels built (what spokes are those?) and by whom (that weight sound pretty fantastic).

Thanks
The Buzz

Thanks Daffy - Thats brilliant. I was hoping to dip under 24lbs (also Medium), but looking unlickely after seeing yours (she is a beauty by the way). I will also be carrying extra weight in the reba fork and hope hubs. Will need to decide if dropping that last little bit of weight will be worth it.

Did you consider running 355's?

I did consider running 355s, but was told that the rim was a bit noodly in 29er form. Much easier to force out of shape especially with spoke tension being difficult to set on stans.

Hope hubs should be lighter than CKs, but you may be right with the Rebas. I could easily get mine under 24 lbs with a lighter saddle, foam grips and lighter pedals it'd come down by 375g (almost a pound)

Thanks Daffy

I figured as much on the 355's. I'm thinking of running an SLR, ESI grips and perhaps eggbeater Ti's. That should offset the weight I add for the reba's, so could be close to the 24lbs mark. Also looking into some KCNC finishing kit which should shave off some grams. Will let you know when its built - could be a few months though
