Taking my full-sus to Italy next Sat for two weeks. Can't get much info about legal off-roading or trail centres. Does any one have any experience of the Amalfi/Sorrento coast area south of Naples please or what's acceptable off-road riding? Cheers
I've been there a couple of times on family holiday, seen a few roadies but never a mountain biker. That said hills do look great! Let me know if you find anything out there.
I was best man at a wedding a little further south in a place called Orsamaso. It is located in a huge national park with loads of potential riding. I don't know what the situation for riding is but it looks pretty good. I chose not to ride as the temperature was in the high 30s(39c). Hope this helps.
Dangerous and risky to go out there looking on spec for riding. I only ever saw other mountain bikers on Vesuvius and even then it wasn't great. The Amalfi / Sorrento coast is heavily developed and very steep and I doubt you'd find much there at all. Given the propensity for extreme views on privacy, feral dogs and other antisocial tendencies, I really wouldn't be expecting to get any decent riding down there. I lived in Naples for a couple of years and worked hard to get the crappy XC riding I did get in that whole area. Yes - some of the national parks look good, but if you don't speak the language you'll get nowhere. Sorry.
