Normally I might cycle in to work a couple of times a week, generally with a few days in between each ride.

The route is 41 miles there and back, and 3,500ft of climbing.

When I got home last night my legs felt fresh and ok. However coming back in to work this morning they were screwed after the first hill!

I can ride further distances and height gain in one ride and not feel this knackered 😥

I ate what I thought was a reasonable amount last night, but to be fair when I got to work this morning my stomach was grumbling away and completely empty.

Is this just 'normal' getting used to daily commutes, or is that kind of distance and climbing too much to do day after day?

Ta

Could be to do with hydration as well. Also probably worth warming up by spinning for a bit on the bike first. If you attacked the first hill, then no wonder you had dead legs.

Mines 38 miles in one direction.
I can only do it once per day.
The ride home, and then back to work the next day are always hard for me. Can't seem to get the legs moving again.

Odly going home was easier than going in.

Still, not doing it this morning.
