Hi guys,

I've had a look through the forum and can't see anything on this. I'm thinking of picking up a sale 2012 Mega but they only seem to be in size small. I'm 170cm with I think a 29" inside leg.

I've heard the Mega's are sized small with short top tube lengths. Does anyone have any opinions on this? If I'm just between the sizes I'm not that bothered about sizing down, I would prefer that than going up but if I should be on a medium I don't really want to jump a size down.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Angus

compare the dimensions of the Mega with a bike you know and are comfortable on?

I'm about the same height and ride a small. It'll be fine.
Where abouts are you based?

hey angus,

I was in the same boat as you 2 weeks ago, loved the bikes but didnt want to leave myself short,im 5'10 and was advised that the bike would have been to small...
I ride a medium Rockrider and just bought a medium Giant Reign and sitting on this,i think i made the right choice,i have a dropper post on and the post is quite high even on this bike so the small would have needed a skyscraper seat post, the only place i could have found one to try for size in glasgow was Freeflow bikes but dont know where you are so might hinder your pursuit of a bike to try,
hope you make the right choice

Craig

Thanks guys!

Wwaswas - Thats a good idea, don't know why I haven't done that yet...

Kayak23 - I live in Chamonix but I'm from near Glasgow, about a two minute drive from Freeflow bikes and the new commonwealth bike track which I'm looking forward to riding in May!

Kayak23 - How do you like the Mega?

I've read a few places saying that Megas are small, but I don't think it's true. The top tube looks short on paper, but the seat angle is steep. The reach figure is long, and the bike doesn't feel short to ride. In fact, the wheelbase is really long, so I find they can actually feel quite big!
I'm 5'9" and ride a medium with a 55mm stem. I would have thought medium would surely be too big for you!

Traildog - yeah I was wondering on the figures too. I looked at the geometry compared to my 456 EVO and the small looks right.

Glad you think the medium would be to big - thats what I want to hear!

Cheers

I ride a small Mega & small c456, I'm 5'7.5"

The Mega has 70mm stem & the c456 a 50mm & slackset. Love em both. Love them both.

If they are still heavily discounted in small Pro spec then even if you don't get on with it I'm sure you won't lose much ๐Ÿ™‚
