My SRAM team GXP BB has given up after 12 months of dirt.
Seen the NP horizon ones and wondered if anyone has any real world reviews? Are they worth double another SRAM team one?

Cheers 👍

Worth a bump.

Following a wet and gritty day at Whinlatter the other week, crank completely seized.

Nukeproof Horizon BB - NDS bearing loose and gritty, DS bearing completely (completely) seized, and potentially knackered by crank spindle too.

Warranty form filled in and sent off to CRC. Lets see what they say - i'll be very annoyed if they try back out of this one.

Properly installed and looked after.

4 months old, less than 20 rides old.

Somewhat dissapointed.

That's not good news 🙁

Aren't the bearings on these warrantied for a decent length of time? I seem to remember it being one of the main selling points.

I find with a lot of bearings that the grease used in them is always woefully underspecced for the application.

I inspected my frame bearings the other day after having the bike since November, and the grease used was some sort of while-chalky crap. Flushed them out and replaced it with proper Weldtite red grease.

Thinking of investing in a tub of the marine stuff and shoving it in any bearings I buy in the future.

Bookmarking this as my SRAM Dub BB is on the way out and I'd been looking at the Nukeproof Horizon as an alternative option.

I bought one of the GXP versions, and the cups are too wide for the crank, so it binds the bearings!

Side-by-side against a SRAM GXP you can see that they're a few mm wider.

Did you follow the installation instructions? No spacers needed for a 73mm shell, just the wavy washers

My missus has the GXP version and it's still running smooth 4 months in so far too.

Consider ones hat eaten - sent me a replacement out straight away. Lets see how long this one lasts.

New Horizon BB
