Nukeproof Blackline trousers - sizing?

I need a new pair of riding trousers. The Blacklines are around £40 at Mike Ashley's deranged jumble sales which is tempting.

Any idea what the sizing is like on these? Will inform whether I can get the sensible black ones or the, erm, slightly more challengingly hued purple ones.

For reference, I'm a large in Madison Flux shorts, but generally have to cinch 'em up a bit.

Or, anything else decent in that price range, so I'm not giving Ashley money?

Not helpful but I have 2 pairs of Blacklines. They are both XL - one fits perfectly and the other hangs off me - must be a full size larger.

Anyway - 36" waist and XL is either perfect or far too big.

Ha that is kind of helpful. If you squint.

I think I read somewhere that newer versions are smaller, which would make sense - and points towards a large for me.

32/33" waist and i have 2 pairs of mediums and 1 pair of large.  The mediums are on the loosest velcro setting, the largest i keep meaning to stich up sighter than the velcro will go.

That's not to say they're not my favourite trousers ever, and i'm going to get a couple of pairs in purple

Not sure I can pull off the purple to be honest. Especially not with a blue bike.

At some point NP changed something in the design/supply chain and that probably accounts for the inconsistency in sizing. If memory serves correctly, newer batches were the slimmer fitting.

If the pictures on the ashley jumble website represent the product actually being sold, then these look like the newer slimmer ones. See that grey tab on the outside of the thigh that looks like a little grey elastoplast? Could be wrong but I don't think that was present on the older ones.

At £40, they look like the best bang-for-buck riding trousers since the great chiggle fire sale. Mine have survived over a hundred rides - with plenty of crashes, brambles, and a fully locked on staffy-cross devil dog - and still not a single snag or hole in them.

I've got a pair in Size small, mens, bagged and tagged from a CRC sale of days gone by that's the size anyone needs?

I'm 32/med, I read some comments that they  come up really big (which was rubbish) so I bought small and med (which fit fine) and never sent the smalls back.  So I guess they're the older/better type?

I've just ordered a pair of large, fingers crossed they'll fit. If not I guess I'll have to eat some more pies.

I had a few pairs of the older ones and sizing varied a lot despite them all being nominally the same size.

I've a pair of XLs and length is perfect, waist and fit is just slightly too big, but I still really like them as a lightweight trail trouser

I'm usually an XL in other brands sizing 6'3" 95kg.

What's the difference between the blackline and the non blackline trail trouser early bird special?

No idea. Mine rocked up today and I think they're actually non-Blackline (although according to the tag they're reduced from 200 quid. Yeah right). Still seem bang on though.
