What's the free online route planning tool of choice?

Occam's Razor surely suggests Google Maps, but is there anything better/easier/more fully featured out there?

Don't necessarily need export to .gpx, just the ability to easily draw a route on a map and get some basic details back (length, elevation, etc.). Printing without needing to screengrab would be cool too.

MBR mag seems to use them. Huge number of format options.

The Strava route planner is pretty good. It can show OSM or Google Maps. Plus it knows what roads/paths are popular for cycling, so can prefer them.

Bikehike was always better for route planning and gpx creation. I have the replacement OS Maps subscription and the included mobile app is excellent

Bikehike dead simple to use (not certain it gives you elevation)

I use OS Maps - bargain for full access to all OS 1:50,000 and 1:25,000.

Thanks for the tip on the Strava route planner, not really taken any notice of that before now. Just succeeded in plotting a few routes from memory, which are all off footpaths (in Scotland), so would take a long time to plot manually. That's really useful!
