North Wales - LLanberis/Tregarth

Hi.

I'm heading the LLanberis, staying in Tregarth next week for work. We'll be heading down in a van working near Llanberis and staying in Tregarth so I'm thinking it would be rude not to stick the eeb in the van. Are there any good routes to ride either from LLanberis to Tregarth to round Tragarth?

Tregarth to Sling and then Mynydd Llandegai. Go past the water works and head either for Marchlyn surge pool, or bus stop quarry. Then from either location down through the quarry to Nant Peris. Turn right and back into llanberis

Depends on your tastes: above ride is an option. You can also look towards Carneddi across from Tregarth over Bethesda. Id suggest out and back to keep it simple. You could also head up to Ogwen Pass and off-road to Capel Curig and back. If thrills more your thing, have a look at Myndd Llandegai and DH trails, just above Tregarth. Other option is Braichmelyn, again with DH trails and steep stuff.

If you're going North West-ish through Sling, take the next left past the kids playground.

There's some good stuff off to your left in the woods, or follow the main track through to the next uphill road on your left. That will contour round the hill and drop you just above Deiniolen. Then as above, Marchlyn Mawr (you have to ride the switchback to the res, it's the law). Then on the way down, take the first left to the top of the quarry, go right and over the gate just after the Armco stops and enjoy the ride down. Right at the bottom, over the gate.

Follow Minffordd from Bus Stop Quarry and take the first right then left past the chapel. Carry on past the start of the Machlyn Mawr road and your retracing your route.

It's mixed riding, but then pretty much everything is round there.

Oh, and if you like a challenge and hate your knees, keep on Minffordd through Deiniolen, turn left at the bottom then refuel at The Caban at Brynrefail.
Then ride back up The Fachwen. 😀
Hopefully your battery is still working, otherwise it's genuinely brutal. 😐

Probably my favourite place to ride a bike, so much variety.

If you don't want any Tarmac to spoil the fun, do the two lakes route instead, Cowlyd and Crafnant.

As posted elsewhere, Drum is also a classic.

Brilliant. Thanks for the info, sounds like the bike will certainly be in the van. Fingers crossed there is time to ride.
