Hello

I have 4 year old chris king disc rear hub, with fun bolts. It makes a rumbling sound, when i ride it, sort of "resonans", i thougt it was the disc, but i dont think it is that?
I take it a apart every 4-5 month, and regrease/lube the:
bearings, driveshell, ringdrive, -i degrease it, and use
a airgun, to clean it too. And then lube it with oil, and a mix
of grease for the ringdrive.
The part i cant get out is the ringdrive mechanism, i lube it with
a mix of thicker oil and grease, but i wonder if the noise is from there
since i cant smear it proper on it ? -or should i try to pour some drops of oil, all over it ??? ( i have some finish line, green cross country oil, quite thick)

I guess it must have the right viscosity for the job - it works fine for me.

If you can remove the cassette body first which might be stiff but will come out. Then take the axle out which will give you access to the ringdrive. Do not use finish line etc. The best thing to do is use the proper king ringdrive lube and mix it with some 5 weight oil which will prevent it seizing in the winter. I hope this has been of some help.

jeb - you have removed the axle , haven't you prior to trying to remove the freehub ?

I find the ring lube dosen't work that well in the winter and the freehub kinda freezes open like an open clutch! I tend to use 7.5wt suspension oil in all of my ring drives but I do use the ring lube in the bearings.

Not sure what your noise is but sounds like a bearing rather than ring drive? Does it do it when pedaling turning the cranks or freewheeling?

:D. Correct ! I am a loser and a tight wad. Chris King stuff is just too expensive. I must have the only 575 without a CK headset. I fitted my old Hope one from my old Spesh.

Ha ha ha ha!
Bling Bling, coming through!
Rather have service & serviceability than King Bling, not mentioning the initial expense!
I ride my bike & don't spend time wa***ing over it.
