Thinking about getting into this big wheeled thing - possibly initially using it as a CTW commuter, running rigid with slicks...

Does anyone have one of these/photos/opinions (from those that have ridden it)

Not sure about SSing or gearing it yet, but that seems part of the appeal.

Also, what wheels are you using?

Many thanks

I picked up a great bargin from Chevin Cycles on an AIR9 yesterday.

I hung spare but heavy bits off it, the frame fork, bar, stem, front derailier and build costs for under a grand and weight just under 24lbs.

Not ridden it hard as yet as the stitches in my calf haven't healed from this weekends crash, so can't review it as yet ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

No chance, next year it's going on a diet when I get some money and I'm aiming for a 3 or 4 lbs drop, unfortunatly I can't ride it at the moment until my leg mends

Ah John, stop winging - that's but a mere scratch - get on that bike and give us all the juicy review details, especially that carbon fork ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Haven't ruled out the Swift but looking for a bit of an "upgrade" on my Voodoo Wanga and "replacement" for Yeti full sus...

2. That Air9 looks absolutely gorgeous - I hope you ride it with ANGER when you're back and riding John

3. Chevin - yes I saw you guys had a demo - sadly I am in Somerset, so nowhere near Yorkshire ~ incidentally I ride a 19" 26er so would I be looking at a large Niner do you think?

Mattmagic has finally built up his Niner SIR

Wonder if it'll last longer than the 5.5 months (8558 miles) that he got out of his Scandal before it died?

Here's a few pictures of my S.I.R.9 with and without gears.
I've had it about a year and haven't looked back. My 26ers (hardtail and full suss) have hardly been ridden since I got it.
On the downside the frame is quite whippy and if you catch it wrongly the back end can feel a bit disconnected from the front.
On the upside it is the fastest and most comfortable hardtail I've ever ridden with a real zing to the ride. Only good full suss bikes roll over stuff better than this and the combination of big wheels and top-end springy steel make it a real joy to ride.
Next job is to swap it back to singlespeed for the winter and fit a set of On-One carbon forks that I've just bought off here.
oxym0r0n - buy one, you won't regret it.

I'm 5'8" with a 31" inside leg and the Medium frame seems to fit perfect

Is that a large Justblur? What wheels are you running? It's a shame they don't do the green colour anymore ๐Ÿ™

Thanks for the pics!

Yes it's a Large. I'm 6'1" and it's spot on (normally ride a 19 or 20" 26er).

Wheels are Bontrager Race Disc's off an '07 Gary Fisher Supercaliber. Although I'm thinking about swapping to a Hope/No Tubes set-up.

If you buy a Rootbeer one, I'll swap with you.
