I am looking at a Niner Air9 frame. The 2011 frame has Easton Scandium
tubing where the 2012 frame has hydroformed aluminium tubing.
Are there any benefits apart from a stiffer BB30 bottom bracket and a tapered head tube on the 2012 frame for increased strengh ?
I quite fancy the scandiunm frame tbh. I've done some research online and generally people are happy with their pre 2012 frames.
Over to the STW panel.
Thanks.
Go with what you want - does the new 2012 improvements make *that* much difference? My skill as a rider is limiting factor, not best damping/stiffest frame/BNG etc
Oh, and my old EMD was ace 🙂
Nothing wrong with my 2010 Niner Air 9 still going strong and still faster than me.
Spoke to Jungle yesterday about 15mm Niner forks and the new Niner frames.....I would'nt hold your breath. You've got plenty of time to ponder before they arrive in this country 🙁
Yeah, about a 6 week wait.
Not much time to grab one of the last few 2011 frames though !
( at 25% off )
Jungle "6 weeks" is like dog years. 😐
It looks lusher than the old one.
Not sure about the hydroformed looks, I think it kinda loses the elegance of the 2011 backwards. Just bought a 2011 EMD for that reason, well that and the £249 it cost 🙂
I'm not that bothered about the looks, it's the
performance and geometry really. Is stiffer better ?
