depends on the lining.

This is part of their response when Iasked how to trat my event jacket.

"However, should your garment have a wicking lining (you can tell this by dropping a little water onto the lining, if it is absorbed quickly and spreads out like tissue paper, then it is wicking) then you would need to use the Spray on version of TX Direct and treat the outside of the garment only."

is the liner attached? I wouldn't want to waterproof my chammy.

wash in if it is unlined.

spray on if it is lined.

I use the wash in regardless as you get a more even coating and it really makes no difference

Yeah I know you shouldn't really treat the wicking lining.

The eVent shorts don't have a chammy liner, just a shell. I think thomthumb wrapped it up.
