Guys,
Ive got a Hope vision for the DH section, but need some simple front and rear lights for road/ climbing...
Few suggestions please for simple lightweight lights
cheers
Exposure Flash/Flare? Not a great output, but will get you by slowly. Why would not just use the Vision all the time though?
just to save battery on long climb, and as a safety backup if Vision fails for any reason...thx
ninja,
I have a couple of these and am very impressed.
Approx 6 hours on full power with 3x new AAA alkalines.

just to save battery on long climb,
So switch to a lower power level (and carry a cheap strap on mini LED as backup - you'd have to ride really slowly, but it's very unlikely you'd need it).
I've got the same torch as Paul D. £10.99 in Aldi a couple of weeks back, loads of stock left when I was last in my local Aldi
6hrs on full power - are you sure?
claimed 10 hour runtime on full power, so 6 hours sounds more likely 😉
whats the output on full?
whats the output on full?
I'm not well up on lights, it's be fine for road riding and commuting, I used it for night riding as a bar light in conjunction with a cree xm-l t6 headlight (1k lumens?) at half power and the combinations was great - only slight downside is that I moved the zoom everytime I turned the torch on or off cos I grabbed the end. might add a ziptie to stop it going al the way back
The output is well below the 700 lumens or similar from the DX/Magicshine lights I use for off-road stuff on helmet and bars.
Perfectly adequate on the road and nearly enough for singletrack.
OK for firetrack, especially if dry (with good feedback).
Personal guess at approx 150 lumens....check the video demo at DX.
I maintain the 6 hours statement for 'full' power with Duracell or Energiser AAA Alkalines. Brightness does fall away as the battery voltage drops, so there is no regulator in this light.
At £8 what do you want...(brighter) moon on a stick...I know?
Price from DX includes an excellent bar (or ski pole) clamp.

I use my P7 on the low setting. Put it on high for descending.
