Fixed gear mtb, off road unicycling, 36ers, or maybe MTFU and go tyreless?

I'd love to try out a 29er, but can't help but think it's exactly what the emperor would be riding around on; in his lovely new invisible clothes ๐Ÿ˜‰

A Trek 4500, Spesh Hardrock, Giant Boulder, nobody seems to ride them. Buy!

They just to release a 29er elastomer frame (I bet it would seriously catch on. Colour coordinated elastomers to bling the bike...it's the future.

I like the way it says "Offroad" on the down tube in case you forget why you bought it.

I find myself totaly niche by daring to ride a 3x9 mid travel bike FS with 26 inch wheels!

Well its niche on here but in the real world I seem to find almost everyone else on something similar.....

I feel like a rebel for having neither a big ring or a bash guard: 2x9 bareback. Ah, life on the edge.

I might write "Offroad" on the side of my bike too.

I might write "Authorised for use on footpaths" on mine. ๐Ÿ˜€

Offroad

I'd watch out RD - some of the harder of thinking sheep will undoubtedly take you seriously, the forum will empty, TJ, SfB and Elfy Bra will have no one to argue with and will implode in a nuculear fireball of frustration that will engulf the whole world leaving nothing but cockroaches who in a few million years may evolve enough to redesign bikes (though probably it'll be a debate about 0.5 and 0.75 inchers then).

Ah, the flex stem! I noticed the elastomers are identical to skateboard truck bushings, makes them even more questionable.

I genuinely want a penny farthing, but a modernised full size version with a coasting front wheel. The 36" front is too small!

The idea of roCkETdOg having his modesty covered by a moustache suggests a blow Job from a greek girl i met once dunno why...

It's all about an offroad Draisine (dandy horse). I might settle for a velocipede but that's only just on the cusp of niche ๐Ÿ˜€

personally I laugh in the face of niche as I'm a common little scrubber with generic bike company bits.

I live in the US and my UK hardtail is as niche as it gets around here...matter of fact I think I'm the only person with a long travel hartail within a 500 mile radius.... ๐Ÿ˜€

You can solve the 36" wheel problem with a Schlumpf uni-cycle hub.

I have managed to get my hands on a freewheeling hub for a penny farthing, so that part is possible too ๐Ÿ™‚

It's going on this

Both together? Not so sure.

New niche spotted at Swinley Forest today.

Picture the scene - family of four on the armoured new berm-tastic singletrack, no helmets, no cycle permit. Dad riding some sort of road bike with panniers, Mum riding what looked like a Brompton-style bike but with around 20" wheels - in bright orange no less!

Two children under 10 on wrong sized bikes, no helmets either.
