Never even ridden trails that exciting. If I can find a bridleway with a downwards incline and more than three roots I think i'm in heaven. ๐Ÿ™

Nice find!

He looks very small floating over the bumps; either that or he's riding a 29er!

That looks just like me in the Peaks on Sunday*

*In my head, it was just like that, to the rest of the world, it was more like "whoa....shit...f&ck"...crash.....

Some nice smooth riding there, could have been faster on a FS (without question) but he does a good job of taking the right lines and using abit more skill than travel.

He must be all of what...8st.
Add another 20yrs & 5st & suddenly he wouldn't look so graceful.
That would be Pinch flat city for me.
He/She can ride a bit though.

You gotta love the haters on here! ๐Ÿ˜†
Weight has **** all to do with it, this 14st puddin has more style and grace than most and would be a fair bit faster than this young ripper down that trail..

Knock him all you like, that lad is super fast and a seriously skilled rider. I rode those trails in July and they're more challenging than he makes them look. I'd hazard a guess there's barely a rider on this forum who'd clean them anything like that, even on a full-sus. Who cares if he's ridden them a few times.

Praise where it's due, the guy is very good.

Thats a fantastic looking trail and he probably rides it a lot , it looks like a lot of sections i've ridden at various trail centres up and down the country all rolled into one.

I concur. The only thing i can surmise is that them norf americans have essentially got brutal taste in music. Same applies to skiing films made by nth american companies.

Yeah, where on earth are the UK trail centres like that? People say Stainburn's as rough and tech as it gets here, but I'd love to discover there's better elsewhere. Anyone know?

sorry, but thats not THAT impressive. Yeah, he is fast, and quite smooth, but it's nothing really special. The trails dont really look that difficult either.

Just my humble opinion.

thats the closest vid I've seen of how it actually is in Whistler bike park. and of course the vid makes it seem less steep. I was there a month ago and can only dream of being that good

Agree with plumber - captures Whistler's terrain pretty well, but the smooth riding and the camera angles make the trails look a whole lot easier than they really are. To ride them like that on a bike like that takes genuine talent and balls.

was talking about this yesterday to my fs mate. for what most of us ride we simply don't need loads of travel and a soft rear end.

buy the hype!

Weight has **** all to do with it,

Oh but it does, you see to change direction (up and down) over the bumps takes a LOT more energy and impact when you're twice the weight of someone else. I notice a difference in smooth-ness of my own riding +- 2 stone, despite my skillz not having changed much in that time.

But ultimately he is a nice clean rider, I love watching riding like that. And the music seems fine to me.

Without having invested any time in envelope calcs, I'd guestimate that a light person is better on a hardtail (lighter to bounce over stuff and flick about over good lines) and a heavy person is better on a full sus (able to utilise the long travel and momentum to "make" lines, with tougher kit that withstands the impacts)

Shurely you should still be able to absorb most of the impacts with your legs even if you are heavy?

The last time I did an uplift day, there were a lot of very small (young) people on huge full-sus bikes. They seemed to be struggling to get the bikes moving around.

Presumably the issue is more about power: weight ratios than it is about absolute weight. (Although for many of us anyway, increased weight is largely in the belly department and only affects the ratio and therefore the perfromance in the wrong way.)
