Last time I saw a cxer in the lakes it was on the summit of Pillar, he seemed upbeat about most of the descent being rideable too?!!

Cross Fell from Kirkland is a good route, returning via Alston and coming over Hartside. Perfect for a CX bike and gives you a bit of both, as it were.

That looks like a decent loop. Seems Strava isn't playing ball at the minute, what distance/elevation is covered in that loop?

That Skiddaw/Blencathra loop was 50km, 870m climbing.

The mine roads were nice, but quite a bit of road, especially the last quarter(A591) (which could be improved by heading west a bit and coming back around the top of Bassenthwaite Lake and via Embleton and Wythrop Mill.
