After seeing reference to this on a couple of forums I quite fancy this as my first race. I'm quite new to offroad and haven't ridden at whinlatter yet but ride regularly at Gisburn on the red route. I need a challenge to focus on and train for. Is it that bad ? I'm 42 and average fitness but no racing snake at 15 1/2 stone. I intend to ride for fun rather than to compete, just for the challlenge. So whaddya reckon ?
It'll be a challenge. Go for it. This year was easier than last, but Whinlatter's always going to be hard work - lots of climbing.
Got a couple of weeks off so will try and get up there for a recce ride. Just need a bit more of a target and I ride alone so at least there'll be company till I get dropped 😳
I live near, so give me a shout if you come up and I'll take you around the race loop (domestic duties/work permitting)
