Just had a Shimano Facebook post about a new mechanical XT - hurrah!
The right set-up for any ride, SHIMANO's new DEORE XT mechanical drivetrain delivers refined shifter and RD updates, building on the heritage of the original MTB group.

Looks like you might have got that early, the page at the end of that link seems to have been turned off now.
It's still up there under Shimano Bike on FB . Pic nicked (if it works)
Beaten to it because of distractions on FB 😛
So new Deore group set announced yesterday and XT group set today, but no mention of SLX.
New Deore comes in 6xxx and 7xxx flavours, so does that mean SLX is no more?
I think they've been trying to retire SLX or a while. Haven't there been several "Deore" groupsets since SLX was last changed... before this week's new versions?
SLX has been oficially retired
Still hoping mechanical xtr follows...
what's the deal with no clutch on these new models? good enough chain retention without so not worth the weight/maintenance?
edit. actually I googled it. shadow ES

I like the idea of clutchless because suspension works better without in a lot of cases and from reviews chain retention is fine but I have read a lot of reviews complaining about chain slap noise which is a bit of a downer.
