[Closed] New workstand - Park or Feedback ?

[#11207859]

Looking to replace my slightly tired 5 year old £40 Halfords workstand.

Want something good quality and that folds away nice and compact.

Looking at either the Park Tool PCS 9.2 or the Feedback Sport Mechanic.

The Feedback seems to fold up smaller but has the tripod legs so takes up a bit more floor space.

What does the STW hive recommend?

Contemplating this one, too.

Feedback do a really good clamp, apparently, but it’s not on the base one.

Yeah the next model up has the better clamp - Feedback Sports Pro Ultralight, which is only £30 more......

I'm really impressed with feedback sports kit. I've got their sprint stand, which is fab. I can only assume they're regular style stand is up to the same standard

I’ve just bought a Feedback Sports Pro-Elite. Really nice piece of kit. Quick-release works well and the tripod base is great for uneven ground.

We had that park stand in the workshop.

If you were late and missed one of the good stands you had to use that piece of crap through the back.

Certainly improved punctuality

@trail_rat so not very good then?

Feedback it is - might get the one with the better clamp.

Just wasn't very stable. Ironically the heavier the bike the more stable it was but often it would be road bikes or kids bikes and it would be precarious compared to our other stands.....you didn't leave bikes hung on it and go serve customers.

Use the feedback pro at home.

I have an ancient Park home mechanic stand.

It’s heavy (which I suppose makes it stable), the clamp is a bit rubbish and it doesn’t go down all that small for storage, hence considering an upgrade.

Feedback - I got it for my birthday one year, it's been great. LBS mechanic has borrowed it to take to events - folds up neatly, clamp just works, if the slider clamps slacken you can just nip them up again - great piece of kit.

The feedback stand is great and folds well but get the elite rather than the pro. I hate the clamp on the pro as it slides beautifully smoothly until you get the bike within a few cm of it and then it jams up and you need to turn that stupid knob lots to close it up. Same with opening, you should just loosen it a little and it should slide out but it rarely does.  Haven't found any way of fixing it either. The Elite looks like it might be better

+1 for the feedback sports stands - beautifully made and all-alloy Rust resistant construction which is ideal if you fold it up and pop it up out of sight in your back garden and then forget about it for 2 months...

Anyone use a work stand that holds the bike from the bottom bracket. Just my road bike has an aero Seatpost and the clamp doesn't clamp the frame due to the shape of the tubes the same as the mountain bike.

Thanks all.
Ordered the Feedback Sport (from my original post) - will be a big step up from my Halfords stand.
Got if for £120 with adding a couple of bits to the basket and using some discount codes.

No, but I'm tempted to buy one, it seems to be the default type for all road cycling teams so you assume it works best.

I got this one in a sale a couple of years ago. It's great, easy access to all sides of the bike and in particular the ability to rotate the whole bike 360 degrees. Also no danger of over clamping on carbon frames or damaging dropper posts. Not sure if i'd pay £320 (wiggle price) for it though!!

Don't think I can justify £280 for how often it would get used. The LifeLine Pro Fork Mount Workstand looks okay for £90 and rotates 360 which would be very useful. Did like the looks of the Elite stand but unfortunately is only for QR not bolt through.

I had a Feedback Sports one (when it was significantly cheaper than currently...) but just sold it. It was great once set up, but found adjusting it for various different bikes in the house a pain, especially having to change the axle clamp for different front forks. It also didn't fit longer MTBs, which made it totally useless as the only stand in the house.
