So I've narrowed it down to two different shoes.
Northwave Hammer srs [list]or[/list] Mavic Apline XL
Who's got either of them and what do you think? 🙂
Shimano AM45s !
I love my AM45s, but the Mavic Alpine XL are very good too.

I have AM45s and can't reccomend them enough, however my old man has alpine XLs and says they're pretty good, look a bit much in white though i think.. and are about twice the price of AMs..
the plus points with the mavic is the excellent grip when walking
makes a huge difference in the mud
if the am45s had the mavic contagrip soles theyd be perfect
+1 for the grip with mavics, am45s can be slippy when scrambling up gloppy slopes with a bike, the alpine soles are really spikey
I'm changing from a pair of AM45's, they have been brilliant shoes but the lack of grip is the one thing that made me look elsewhere. I've ordered the Mavic Alpine XL's so time will tell if it was a good idea or not... 😕
