[#372595]

So i got a new cove frame and have built up just about everything myself, had the bb faced and the headset done by LBS but i was wondering about the rear disc, can i just fit it or does it need facing onto the frame?

Also should i have the LBS look over the build as i want the front hose shortening and have no idea how to do this?

re. brakes. Try it. If it goes together, adjusts easily and doesn't rub, job's a good 'un. If it doesn't, have the LBS face the rear mounts (may require shimming etc, so give them the rear brake, too).

re. hoses. Shortening them is a 10 minute job (inc. slurping on a cuppa) per side, plus another 10 miuts to bleed each brakes. Honestly, it's so easy you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

Hose shortening - give the lever a gentle squeeze with the wheels out. make sure you dont pop the pistons out by squeezing the lever too much. Undo the fitting at the lever end and remove olive (do all brakes have olives?} Shorten hose and refit. Push pistons back in which will push any air back out of the system. Jobs a good un.

IIRC shitmano need new olives when you do this, hopes can be reused, don't know about others
