Now I'm back in my summer shoes the balls of my feet are sore after a ride.
Would some super s****y carbon soled shoes help or would I be better off with some of those custom insoles?

Superfeet Carbon insoles may help as they will support the arch of your foot which will reduce the pressure you place through the balls of your feet.

What sort of riding?
What shoes?
What pedals?
So many questions.....!

If you're looking for insoles I've found the Specialized BG ones to be good when I'd worn my originals out. There's a few styles to choose from depending on your foot shape.

I've got the specialized insoles. Good for the arch not so good for the ball.

Best insoles are the Efit Modular ones. The specialized ones are pretty shite since they don't offer enough arch support.

Custom ones are also pretty shite unless you get them done by someone who knows what they're doing.

Pain in the balls of your feet could be either flimsy soles on your shoes, which means you'll feel the cleat through them.

Or you're not sitting straight and your legs aren't tracking as they should. Could be your saddle is too high or too low.

Been looking at the shimano xc70 shoes with the mouldable insoles.
Can you mould them at home?
