Hello
Not been here for a while so apologies for any intrusion.
After nearly ten years its time to retire my faithful Turner 5Spot and get a new bike to enjoy. I would rather buy a frame and build up a bike to my own spec, using existing parts and replacing non fitting ones. Turner support was excellent during ownership however will not be buying another one which is an entirely different topic for another day.
I have narrowed down three frames for consideration based on warranty, support, quality and reviews. Also, I'm 6' 3" so have to plump for a XL due to long legs and arms, thus limited on choice. These are:
The new 2015 Orange Five - can buy directly from the LBS, proven UK proof, but not sure on a single pivot design.
Nicolai Helius AC - love the way the frame can be customised, its look and niche appeal like the Turner. Worry, that any warranty problems will be difficult to deal with.
Bird Aeris - the price! Also can test ride. Is it too cheap to be true?
So what I'm hoping people can help with is basically do they own one, enjoy riding it, had any warranty issues, etc?
Did consider a Santa Cruz 5010, but the head tube is a tiny 120mm. The same issue with the Banshee Spitfire at 115mm, useless when you are tall!
The plan is to buy the frame, keep the 5Spot running, slowly build up what I can on the new frame and eventually transfer across.
Thank you for your time.
